Tall oaks lined the border of Ashclan as they towered over the land, casting long shadows along the ground. a ginger pelt was visible among the land, and green eyes glazed up the trunk of the oak. Today Mapleheart would try tree climbing, she was never gifted at it, but it came in handy when attacks were lead on Ashclan. She readied herself at the bottom of the trunk and gave a starting leap, she hooked on just right and started bringing herself up the tree. She finally made it to the lowest branch of the oak. Victory was hers, of course until she sat on it. once her weight hit the branch it broke instantly, dropping it with her. she let out a small meow and hit the ground on her back. irritation played on her face as she got up and shook her pelt, she glared at the tree and hissed. "Mousedung!" she could never get in a tree, even if her life depended on it.

Waterpaw's tail-tip twitched. She sat on a flat rock, sunbathing lazily. Her dark blue eyes were half-closed, and her white-and-blue-tabby fur felt hot under the newleaf sun. But she paid it no mind. It relaxed her usually tense muscles. She gazed up at the tall oaks lining the AshClan border, for once feeling at peace. She didn't smile. She didn't make any expression at all. Her face was unreadable, as always.
But then she heard a nearby hiss, and her precious solitary peace was gone. Just like that. Now she felt irritated. Who dare disturb the only part of the day where she actually felt something other than cold and withdrawn-- She saw her Clanmate Mapleheart hit the ground on her back. "Fool!" She snapped loud enough for the warrior to hear. "The whole Clan knows you are horrible at climbing! Why did you even try?!"
Waterpaw was never the friendliest of cats, apprentice or not. If you wanted her respect, you had to earn it. Waterpaw stood, stalking over to the ginger she-cat now splayed on her back.

Before Mapleheart could retry her attempt a mere kit stalked through the brush yelling at her. mapleheart's ears went flat against her head as she hissed, You need to learn how to respect you fellow warriors! she growled, her hair on her back spiked up. this was one of those days no cat wants to mess with mapleheart, she was in a bad mood which means she would tear the head off of any cat that passed. Why don't you go home! Your mommy's probably waiting for you. Kits aren't allow out of the nursery without their mother or a warrior present. she hissed and calmed herself down. She jerked her head from her to the tree and got ready to climb again, she jumped up and dug her nails into the bark as she tried her way up, she mad it to a branch and sat on it. And it didn't break. She grinned down at the apprentice and said, I try because i want to reach my goals. i never see you try at anything. she snorted from the top of her tree.

Waterpaw hissed. "Kit?!" She snapped. "I'll have you know, Mapleheart, that I am almost old enough to become a warrior! Don't you recognize me at all? I am Waterpaw, Leapingtiger's apprentice! And the reason why I never try anything is because I know my limits." Her tone was absolutely scathing, enough to make even a new warrior shrink back, at least a little. "If you want my respect, you must earn it. Are we clear?" She held her head and tail high. There was no way that someone was going to beat her in a battle of wits. Especially when her opponent wasn't even armed. [[OOC;; lol this is why I love Waterpaw x3]]

MApleheart showed no expression, all she did was roll her eyes and look down on the apprentice. Why would i want an apprentice's respect when i am way older than you? she asked a little irritated. She waited impatiently as Waterpaw continued her arguing, this apprentice had some fire in her, Well MApleheart did too and if she wanted to battle fire with fire, then so be it. Leapingtiger is a great warrior and i don't know why she even tries putting up with a arrogant apprentice such as you. she grinned and started licking her pelt.
[[Tehe, i lurve my Mapleheart too. She can be sweet than sour at the same time.]]

Waterpaw bristled. Despite her best efforts, she had grown close to her mentor and didn't like anyone talking bad about her. "Leapingtiger is proud of me, thank you very much. She's... she's..." She's like the mother I never had. Waterpaw finished mentally. "And you should want my respect because I just may be AshClan leader one day. I certainly am smart enough."
She didn't feel like arguing anymore, when the truth once again crashed down on her shoulders. Nobody wanted to be her friend, except Leapingtiger. They always watched her carefully like she was some kind of nutjob that was bound to snap at any second... just like her father did. She knew she'd never become a respected, normal warrior, let alone Clan leader. And she hated it. Almost as much as she hated her father. It was his fault that her life was so limited in the first place.
Her fur flattened, her face grew emotionless and unreadable, and her blue eyes darker than they already were and void. She turned and began to stalk away, honestly not wanting Mapleheart to say anything else that might set her off. But with her luck, that just might happen.
